From sun up 'til sun down...a farmer's work is never done.

We have started an organic gardening venture in Sanford, NC. We had lived in Raleigh on just over a half acre of property and managed to grow enough food for several families and we enjoyed the work. After moving to the country, we decided that we would be serious about growing vegetables and fruits. We have purchased a small tractor and the implements we need to farm and we have been hard at work.

It will take at least a year to build up the soil with organic material, but we started today. We dug holes for 12 fruit trees. So tomorrow they will all go in the ground. We have blueberries, figs and muscadines planted and will add more as we determine the varieties that work the best.

It feels great to work in the soil. We have a spring-fed pond that we will use for irrigation. With approximately four acres of land, we will never have a large business, but we will offer healthy, chemical free fruits and veggies.

We will post photos of our progress and if we pass along info of tips and varieties of plants that work well for us. Hope you take the journey with us!
